Our Mission
Who we are
Karen's KIND started with one special hen named Karen who was saved from slaughter when she reached the end of her "useful egg laying life". She taught us the importance of kindness and compassion and Karen's KIND was started in her honor, to help as many chickens and other ex-commercial animals as possible.

Karen's KIND is a micro-sanctuary in north Bristol which is home to rescued pigs, cats, dogs, rabbits and chickens. In late 2024, we began specialising in chicken care and taking on emergency and special care chicken cases.
Public donations and proceeds from our Teemill shop are put towards rescuing, rehoming, and rehabilitating chickens and supporting with animal care education.

What we do
Creating Change
By rescuing and rehabilitating, we are taking direct action for animals. We also raise awareness about animals as individuals and how easy it can be to live kindly, hoping to inspire others to join us in our mission.
Rehabilitation
Rehab & Rehome
We take in in emergencies and special care chicken cases for rehabilitation and rehoming.
We permanently house hens who require on-going special care where we cannot find suitable homes.
On occasion, we take in other farm rescues for rehabilitation, where they have no other choice.
Please note, we are currently at full capacity and are not able to accept new intakes unless new housing infrastructure is funded.

Education
Helping Other Carers
We produce educational content and resources to help other compassionate chicken carers.

We also engage in educational initiatives through partner charities.
Advocacy
Promoting Compassion
We advocate for kindness for everyone. Leaving animals off your plate is a great way to start.
A kinder world does not begin in palaces or parliaments. It begins with us in our daily choices.
